World Bank Launches $132M ProClimat Project in Congo

International finance institution the World Bank has launched the $132 million ProClimat Project in the Republic of Congo.

Announced by Clarence Tsimpo Nkengne, Country Representative, World Bank on June 16, the project aims to promote climate resilience and reduce the country’s reliance on oil.

“The ProClimat Project is not only about development. It is a concrete response to the climate challenges affecting the most vulnerable communities in this country,” stated Nkengne.

Aligning with national priorities to diversify the economy and strengthen landscape conservation, the project seeks to foster sustainable agriculture and job creation. Through the project, training for service providers in business plan development will be supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization.

Approximately 72% of the funds are awaiting mobilization, with 8% having been disbursed so far.
