United Airlines has inaugurated nonstop service between Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Dakar Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS), marking its first entry into the Senegalese market. The new route, launched on May 23, operates three times per week.
Dakar is United’s sixth destination in Africa and its first in Francophone West Africa. United is currently the only carrier operating direct flights between Washington and Dakar. The service enables passengers traveling from Senegal to connect through Washington to 65 destinations across the Americas.
“The direct service to the U.S. capital opens up new opportunities for travelers on both sides,” said Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, United Airlines.
