Turkey’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar has announced the country will deploy a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to Egypt.
Following an agreement signed between Turkey’s state-owned Turkish Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) and Egypt’s state-owned Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), the landmark deal marks the first time a Turkish FSRU will be deployed abroad.
Under the agreement, the FSRU will provide LNG storage and regasification services in Egypt during the peak demand periods in 2025.
The agreement was signed by Abdulvahit Fidan, Chairman and General Manager of BOTAŞ and Yassin Mohamed, Chairman and CEO of EGAS, under the auspices of Minister Bayraktar and Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi.
