Senegal’s Ministry of Energy, Petroleum and Mines, in partnership with midstream company Vivo Energy, has launched the Excellence Scholarship Program to equip young Senegalese with the academic and technical skills needed to succeed in the country’s growing oil and gas industry.

The initiative aims to address the rising demand for skilled professionals and promote the sustainable management of Senegal’s energy resources.

Structured around three core pillars – academic excellence, technical skills development and inclusion – the program will provide financial support to students pursuing energy-related studies either in Senegal or abroad. Scholarships of up to 9 million CFA francs will be awarded to students studying locally, while those enrolled in international institutions may receive up to 15 million CFA francs.

In addition to funding tuition, living and transport costs, the program covers computer equipment and includes hands-on internship opportunities at Vivo Energy Senegal.

The initiative forms part of Senegal’s long-term development strategy, “Senegal Vision 2050,” and aligns with Vivo Energy’s Talent Junior program, which supports the training of future professionals in energy and economic development.
