Senegal and Saudi utility ACWA Power have signed a renegotiated deal for the construction of a seawater desalination plant on Senegal’s coast. The agreement marks a new phase in bilateral cooperation and follows the cancellation of a previous contract signed in March 2024 under former President Macky Sall.
Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of Senegal, welcomed the new agreement after meeting with Khaled Ben Salih Al Khataf, CEO, Saudi Investment Authority.
“This renegotiated agreement marks a new step in the strategic partnership between Senegal and Saudi Arabia,” said President Faye. “It reflects our shared commitment to equitable cooperation and sustainable development.”
