Independent oil company Perenco has invested $200 million in the construction of a new offshore platform, Kombi 2, within the Kombi-Likalala-Libondo II (KLL II) permit area.
The platform, currently being built at the Nieuwdorp shipyard in the Netherlands by service company Dixstone, is expected to produce around 7 million cubic feet of gas per day.
The unit is scheduled to depart the Netherlands in October 2025 and begin operations offshore Pointe-Noire in early 2026.
This project forms part of a broader investment strategy by Perenco in Congo following the 20-year renewal of the Ikalou II and Likouala II permits. The company plans to invest nearly $900 million in the country through work-over operations, development drilling and infrastructure upgrades.
These developments will support Congo’s objective to reach 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2030.
“Kombi 2 is fully in line with our commitment to performance, operational safety and environmental responsibility,” said Stéphane Barc, Managing Director, Perenco Congo.
