Multinational oil and gas firm Petronas’ South Sudanese assets have been transferred to the country’s national oil company Nilepet following Petronas’ divestment from South Sudan in early August 2024.
The transfer increases Nilepet’s stakes in Blocks 3/7, 1/2/4 and 5A – previously held in partnership with the China National Petroleum Corporation, the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation of India, Petronas and Nilepet.
Nilepet is now seeking international partners to both sustain operations while increasing output at the blocks. Blocks 3/7, 1/2/4 and 5A produced an average of 153,200 barrels per day in 2021.
