The state-owned Rural Electrification Agency (REA) of Nigeria is inviting companies to submit bids for 161 power projects in the country in a bid to bolster electrification across rural areas.

The projects fall into three main categories: grid extension, solar mini grid/solar home system and solar street light.

The grid extension projects aim to expand the existing electricity grid to underserved rural areas, while the solar mini grid/solar home system projects aim to deploy renewable energy solutions to provide power to off-grid communities. The installation of solar street light projects aim to enhance public safety by illuminating streets and public spaces in rural areas.

These electrification projects aim to bring about improvements in energy infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for communities nationwide. Interested contractors can engage with the REA to contribute to this initiative.
