Niger, Mali Sign Diesel Supply Deal

Niger has signed an agreement with Mali for the supply of affordable diesel to contribute to the country’s energy security.

The west African country will provide 150 million liters of diesel to Mali‘s state energy firm, Énergie du Mali, at a significant discount under the agreement.

“This supply will guarantee stable and reliable electricity production, thus contributing to the socio-economic development of Mali,” reads the statement.

The agreement is part of efforts by both nations to enhance regional energy integration, with Mali grappling with power shortages. The deal comes at a time Niger plans to increase oil production to 110,000 barrels per day (bpd), with 90,000 bpd earmarked for exports.
