The Madagascar government has signed a preliminary agreement with Emirati firm Global South Utilities (GSU) to build a 50 MW photovoltaic solar plant in Moramanga, eastern Madagascar.
Under the agreement, GSU will finance, construct and operate the plant under a power purchase agreement with Madagascar’s state-owned electric utility JIRAMA.
Set to start operations within 12 months, the plant will include a 25 MWh battery energy storage system to stabilize the Antananarivo Interconnected Network.
