Mellitah Oil & Gas Company, a joint venture between Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) and Italian energy firm Eni, has announced plans to drill eight offshore gas wells in the “Structure A” formation, located in water depths of up to 100 m.
Drilling operations are set to begin shortly after the arrival of the Vali rig, operated by global service provider Borr Drilling. The project is expected to be completed within 15 months, aiming for a production target of approximately 160 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
The NOC emphasized that this initiative will enhance the stability of natural gas supplies to the local market, providing fuel for power plants, cement factories, the iron and steel industry and household cooking gas.
