Italian state-owned airline ITA Airways has introduced a direct Rome-Dakar line with four weekly flights.
The flight offering reflects an intention to “accelerate cultural and business tourist exchanges between Senegal and Italy,” according to Pierfrancesco Carino, ITA Airways Vice President of International Sales.
The new line – which saw its first flight land at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar last week – connects the two cities using an Airbus A321 that produces 20% fewer carbon emissions.
“Italy and Senegal are now closer to each other. This is an effective commercial instrument between companies in Senegal and Italy…,” added Ngor Ndiaye, Senegalese Ambassador to Italy.
