Global geotechnical services firm GeoPartners has kickstarted a new multi-client 3D seismic acquisition project, offshore Sierra Leone. The project will take a period of six weeks, followed by a modern advanced processing sequence. The first shot point will begin in mid-June 2025.

Implemented in partnership with the Petroleum Directorate of Sierra Leone, the project will utilize the seismic vessel BGP Prospector to better define the depth and volume of potential hydrocarbon deposits. Sierra Leone will use the program results to support upcoming drilling campaigns while reducing exploration risks.

“We are confident that this new 3D seismic survey, the first in Sierra Leone for over a decade, will provide unparalleled insights into the subsurface,” stated Jim Gulland, Director and Founder of GeoPartners. “This project is a crucial step, significantly enhancing the country’s exploration potential and accelerating its pursuit of commercial hydrocarbon discoveries.”
