The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has signed a new agreement to support rural industry by expanding electricity access to businesses.
Announced on June 20, the MoU was signed between the DRC’s Industrial Promotion Fund (FPI) and National Electrification Agency (ANSER) and aims to align efforts to boost socioeconomic development through rural electrification.
“By combining their efforts, the FPI and ANSER will pool their resources so that each party can play its role in ensuring the socioeconomic development of beneficiary communities, as well as the revival of local economies through the establishment of growth centers on strategic axes of the national territory,” stated Bertin Mudimu, Director General, FPI.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to diversify the economy and increase energy supply in all 145 territories across the country.
