Angolan integrated energy firm etu Energias is planning a re-development strategy for Block 205, which is located in the Lower Congo Basin offshore Angola, to achieve its goal of producing 50,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), Edsos dos Santos, the company’s CEO told Energy Capital & Power.
In an exclusive interview at Angola Oil & Gas 2024 – held in Luanda from 2 – 3 October – dos Santos said etu Energias is mobilizing a drilling rig to drill more wells in block 205 in the short to medium term.
“A big focus is increasing production on our existing assets,” added Santos.
He added that the company is also implementing on-going drilling in Block 32 to capture more reserves and opportunities to increase output, in partnership with TotalEnergies. In Block 32 – operated by TotalEnergies – etu Energias is awaiting results of an exploration campaign deployed to maximize output in the 50,000-bpd block.
“We were producing 4,000 bpd three to four years ago and through organic and inorganic growth we are now producing 26,000 bpd today,” added dos Santos “We are hopeful about production incremental prospects in our onshore assets as well where we have already mobilized a drilling rig.”
Etu Energias will explore new M&A acquisition opportunities to expand its footprint in the region and production capacity, reiterated Santos.
