
Eskom, Exxaro Partner on Emissions Reduction

South African mining company Exxaro Resources and state utility Eskom have signed an agreement to cooperate on the research, development and implementation of carbon emissions reduction solutions.
As part of the MoU, Exxaro Resources and Eskom will mobilize investments to identify and implement technologies that address the challenges of transitioning to a low-carbon economy.
The partnership will also focus on jointly measuring, managing and reducing Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, while promoting skills development, job creation and stakeholder engagement to enhance climate resilience. The two entities will share data and best practices to accelerate climate action.
The collaboration supports South Africa’s commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement and its Integrated Resource Plan, with a key emphasis on ensuring a just energy transition.
