Italian oil major Eni, energy trading firm Vitol and state-owned Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), have commenced drilling operations for the Sankofa East 1X Side Track 2 well, located offshore Ghana. This new phase aims to sustain production from the Sankofa field and enhance Ghana’s domestic energy supply.

Drilling is taking place near the John Agyekum Kufuor FPSO as part of the broader Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) block development. The Deep Value Driller, a high-performance drillship recently deployed from Ivory Coast, is leading the operation.

Eni holds a 44.4% interest in the OCTP block. Vitol holds 35.6% and GNPC holds 20%. The joint venture’s production stands at 34,000 barrels of oil per day.
