Energy major Eni has shipped the 100th cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from its Coral South Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility, situated in the ultra-deep waters of Mozambique’s Rovuma Basin.

Since commencing operations in November 2022, Coral South FLNG has been instrumental in positioning Mozambique as a key player in the global LNG market. The facility boasts a liquefaction capacity of 3.4 million tons per annum (MTPA), tapping into the substantial gas reserves of the Coral reservoir. Eni serves as the delegated operator of Area 4, monetizing the 2.4 trillion m³ of gas reserves.

Beyond its operational achievements, the Coral South project has significantly contributed to Mozambique’s economic development. Approximately 1,400 direct and indirect jobs have been created for Mozambican professionals. Notably, over 200 young Mozambicans have received training in critical sectors such as logistics, oil and gas production and asset integrity.
