Italian energy firm Eni is advancing three gas projects to enhance production, reduce carbon emissions and support human capital and technology development in Libya.

During a meeting between Abdul Hamid Mohammed Dbeibeh, Prime Minister of Libya’s Government of National Unity this week, Claudio Descalzi, CEO, Eni confirmed that the Sabratha Compression Project, which is intended to enhance output from the existing Bahr Essalam gas field, is on track for completion by the end of 2025.

Eni is also progressing the Bouri Gas Utilisation Project, with production slated for 2026.

Prime Minister Dbeibeh and Descalzi also discussed the Structure A&E project, which Eni began drilling in April 2025.

Additionally, the meeting provided an opportunity to evaluate Eni’s ongoing exploration efforts across Libya and to explore potential investment opportunities emerging from the country’s newly launched oil and gas licensing round, according to an official statement from Eni.
