Egyptian industrial group Siltal has inaugurated a home appliance assembly plant in Diamniadio, Senegal, with a total investment of 2 billion CFA francs. The facility, with a production capacity of 25,000 units per year, will assemble gas cookers, washing machines, air conditioners and refrigerators.
The first phase of the project, starting in October 2025, will focus on assembling washing machines, gas cookers and air conditioners. The second phase, scheduled for February 2026, will expand to include chest freezers, refrigerators and water dispensers.
The investment is fully financed by Siltal, which has been active in the refrigeration sector since 1984 and operates in more than 10 countries. The group has had a presence in West Africa since the early 1990s.
The company selected Senegal due to its fiscal incentives, customs advantages, strategic position as a gateway to 16 West African countries and stable political and economic environment. The plant is expected to create 240 direct jobs.
A delegation of Senegalese industrialists will travel to Egypt to strengthen business ties and that discussions are underway to create an Egyptian industrial zone in Senegal.
