The Port Autonome de Pointe-Noire – a major seaport located in the Republic of Congo – and French port group Haropa have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in port management, logistics, innovation and sustainability.

Signed on May 23, the MoU includes four key focus areas, including knowledge-sharing on logistics, best practices in port operations, innovation to reduce carbon emissions and long-term sustainability. Leveraging Haropa’s experience in port management, the MoU aims to strengthen Port Autonome de Pointe-Noire’s operational capacity and development.

“The MoU will contribute to strengthening the capacity of the staff of the Port Autonome de Pointe-Noire, who will benefit from Haropa’s recognized expertise,” stated Ingrid Olga Ghislaine Ebouka-Babackas, Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation and Merchant Marine, Republic of Congo.

In complience with international best practices, the partnership between Port Autonome de Pointe-Noire and Haropa signals a new stage in the development of the port. According to Séraphin Balla, Director General of the port, “Over the past twenty years, considerable investments have been made, and today, the port has reached a level that requires updates and staff training. We believe Haropa can provide the necessary expertise to ensure that the services delivered by our port meet the best practices of major global ports.”
