China has expressed its hope that the Republic of Congo will be among the first countries to benefit from its new policy of fully exempting customs duties on African products exported to the Chinese market.

The statement was made by China’s Ambassador to Congo, An Qing, during a meeting with the Congolese Minister of International Cooperation and Public-Private Partnerships, Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, on July 22 in Brazzville.

The meeting also addressed key priorities for bilateral cooperation and urgent joint development projects. The discussions come amid ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between China and Congo, with both delegations outlining potential areas for expanding partnerships.

Further talks are expected as both sides explore how to operationalize the new trade policy and advance collaborative development initiatives.
