Construction of the Pointe-Noire–Loutété–Maloukou-Tréchot pipeline project is expected begin by the end of 2025. The project is being developed through a public-private partnership between the Republic of Congo and Russian pipeline company Zakneftegazstroy‑Prometey.
The announcement was made last week during a meeting between Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, Minister of International Cooperation and Public-Private Partnership Promotion, Congo and Pavel Sorokin, Deputy Minister of Energy, Russia.
The two officials welcomed progress on the project and agreed to establish a follow-up mechanism to ensure adherence to the implementation timeline.
The project follows a framework agreement signed in September 2024. It will be carried out with the support of Congolese partners and the national oil company, SNPC. The pipeline will be operated under a 25-year agreement.
