The Republic of Congo and France have signed an energy partnership agreement to modernize Congo’s public electricity distribution network.
The agreement focuses on upgrading the national grid infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency and improving service delivery and aligns with Congo’s broader efforts to improve energy access and reliability.
Signed in May by Congo’s Ministry of Energy, the national electricity utility and Seureca, a subsidiary of the French company Veolia is part of the Fund for Technical Expertise and Experience Transfers managed by the French Development Agency. This fund supports technical cooperation and project preparation studies in developing countries, aiming to enhance infrastructure and service delivery.
In addition to the energy agreement, several other cooperation accords were signed during the visit, including financing for protected area management, urban mobility projects and the establishment of an environmental crime academy in Brazzaville.
