The Republic of the Congo has signed a deal with Dubai-based renewable energy company AMEA Power for the construction of a 100 MW solar PV facility.
The deal was signed by Congolese Minister of Energy and Hydraulics Émile Quosso and AMEA Power Chairman Hussain Al Nowais. The solar plant will advance clean energy access in the Congo, where approximately 50% of the population has access to electricity.
The deal comes as AMEA Power is expanding its footprint across the continent, with the firm deploying renewable energy projects in South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Mauritania, Tunisia, Mozambique and Djibouti, among other markets.
