BW Energy has confirmed a significant oil discovery at the DBM-1 ST2 appraisal well in the Dussafu license offshore Gabon, marking the second successful sidetrack into the well.

Drilled to a total depth of 4,731 meters, the appraisal well encountered approximately 11 meters of net oil pay within a gross hydrocarbon column of around 35 meters in the Gamba reservoir. The well is located within the Bourdon prospect.

The Bourdon discovery is estimated to contain approximately 56 million barrels of oil in place, with 25 million barrels deemed recoverable.

The DBM-1 ST2 sidetrack was drilled using the Borr Norve jack-up rig and is located roughly 15 kilometers west of the BW Adolo FPSO and 7.5 kilometers southeast of the MaBoMo production platform.

BW Energy operates the Dussafu license with a 73.5% interest, while Panoro Energy holds 17.5% and Gabon’s state-owned Gabon Oil Company holds the remaining 9%.
