
Asia Minerals to Launch Manganese Exploration Project in DRC

Japanese mining corporation Asia Minerals will start exploring for manganese in the territory of Luozi, in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) Kongo Central province.
Announced by Kizito Pakabomba Kapinga Mulume, Minister of Mines, DRC, the exploratory phase for the project is scheduled to begin on May 21, 2025. Overall investment for the project will provide for a projected annual production of 2 million tons of manganese per year.
“This manganese deposit exploration project is fully aligned with the new vision of mining governance and represents a powerful lever for territorial, sectoral and economic transformation,” Minister Mulume stated.
Minister Mulume has requested government support to facilitate the project’s implementation, including assistance with administrative procedures, institutional backing and the necessary technical partnerships.
