State-owned airline TAAG Angola has partnered with American aerospace firm Boeing to overhaul Angola’s transport sector and connectivity to global markets.

TAAG Angola will leverage Boeing’s aviation expertise to modernize its fleet and operations, accelerate digital transformation and improve operational efficiency. The partnership will also support the expansion of TAAG’s domestic, regional, and international route network.

The two parties will develop and adopt a technological innovation roadmap, which includes fleet and infrastructure maintenance and technical training initiatives to build TAAG Angola’s capacity.

The partnership aligns with efforts by Angola’s Ministry of Transport to attract foreign investment, diversify the national economy, promote tourism, create employment and position Angola as regional aviation hub.

The agreement comes at a time demand for aviation services in Africa is growing owing to a rapidly expanding middle class, increasing urbanization and rising trade and travel demand. According to Boeing, Africa will need more than 1,200 new aircraft over the next two decades to meet the demand.
