Portuguese construction company Mota-Engil secured a contract for Angolan national oil company (NOC) Sonangol‘s oil shipyard project.
Mota-Engil will operate the oil shipyard as part of the NOC’s re-energization of the Porto Amboim Estaleiros Navais initiative, aiming to expand Sonangol’s business portfolio with oil and gas vessel manufacturing, repair and maintenance services.
Sonangol’s service expansion comes ahead of the firm’s planned complete privatization in 2026. Four companies submitted proposals to provide the services, following the release of the tender in December 2023.
