AMEA Power, Egypt Partner on 1,500MWh Battery Project

Dubai-based renewable energy company AMEA Power has signed agreements with the Egyptian government to develop standalone battery energy storage systems with a total capacity of 1,500MWh.

Up to 500MWh will be installed in Zafarana, while 1,000MWh will be deployed in Benban. The project aims to enhance grid stability and facilitate greater integration of renewable energy, accelerating Egypt’s energy transition.

Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of AMEA Power, emphasized that the initiative will not only decarbonize Egypt’s power sector, but also stimulate economic growth and job creation.

Through its $3 billion investment in Egypt, AMEA Power has contributed to the development of 2,500MW of wind power and 2,400MWh of battery storage.
