Alteo Refinery Guinea will construct and operate a new alumina refinery in Boké, Guinea-Conakry.
The project involves the construction of the refinery, industrial installation sites, a living base and mineral transport corridor, along with associated infrastructure required for mineral transport activities.
Transitional President of Guinea-Conakry, General Mamadi Doumbouya, designated the refinery as a “project of national interest” by decree. The status is valid for a period of three years and renewable once.
Last month, Guinea Alumina Corporation, a subsidiary of Emirates Global Aluminium, announced plans to establish a domestic alumina refinery with an annual capacity of 1 million tons. Both projects align with President Doumbouya’s 2022 directive urging mining companies to construct refining facilities for local bauxite processing.
